March Wishlist Additions
A lot of white pants, the same shoe, but in different colors and another leather woven bag.
In 2024 I’m buying one clothing/accessory a month and one beauty/skincare/hair product a month. I wouldn’t classify my shopping habits as anything crazy, but I do think ~as a society~ we have become so much more comfortable with buying more than we actually need (or honestly even want) which is why I’m challenging myself to shop differently for the next 10 (now 9) months.
If this shopping philosophy inspires you, or you just want more ideas of what you can spend your money on (the exact opposite of my intentions, but to each their own), consider subscribing! I’ll make it super for easy for you! Here:
Below is most of what I have added to my pinterest wishlist this month. I typically categorize these lists for your enjoyment and because it helps with my purchasing procsess, but this month everything really fits into one category and that is: It’s almost Spring!
Spring is usually my least favorite season of the four, but this year, she’s grown on me. Seeing the flowers peak out, the trees start to look less scary and the sun stay out for longer is making me particularly excited to get up and get dressed!
alright, let’s f*cking gab
Spring Shoe
Gell - 1130 in white/midnight, Asics, $130 — As I have said on this newsletter multiple times I’m a low profile shoe girl, but every now and then I think about something a little chunkier with more support.
Anastasia Shoe, Flabelus, $165 — It is just a matter of time before I get a pair of this style of Mary Jane. Should it be this red?
Giulia Mary Jane Friulane, Viani, $118 — Or this green? I am having a hard time with how trendy these could be, but they’re very me so I think I can get away with it.
The Greta Round-Toe Ballet Flat in mesh, Madewell, $110 — The mesh shoe has been on my mind since 2019 because of
and The Row of course. When I saw this release from Madewell I immediately thought about the Cerulean Belt scene from The Devil Wears Prada. The Andy’s want to take part in the mesh shoe trend, whether they know the origins or not, and they’ll save themselves about 500 bucks too.
Spring Pants
Everday Jean in classic blue, Still Here New York, $260 — Do I need more blue jeans?? I think the answer to this question is always yes, so I can’t be trusted. (Side note: This Still Here New York X Merit post is actually perfect. Merit does the best beauty social I’ve seen in a long time. It makes me miss how good Glossier used to be in their prime.)
The Pointelle Simple Crop Pant in white, DONNI., $134 — These feel like the perfect thing to wear when you want to just wear sweatpants out of the house. I never feel that way so I don’t think I would get much wear out of these.
Horseshoe Jean in Jicama, Citizens of Humanity, $268 — I saw this TikTok of these two girls wearing these pants last year and have thought about them ever since. I wish I could try them on before I fork over almost $300.
Spring Others
Handwoven Leather Tote in coffee bean, Madewell, $188 — This bag is so incredible, my jaw dropped when I saw that Madewell had come out with it. I haven’t seen it in person though. If it’s as beautiful in person I might have to get it.
Funnelneck field jacket in heavyweight twill, J. Crew, $178 — I stopped into J. Crew to look for a rain coat (which we will touch on again below) and took a photo of this jacket on the hanger. I couldn’t stop thinking about it so I went in to try it on. The sales woman was wearing it with an all denim outfit and I wanted to get it so badly, but I bought two jackets last month so I couldn’t buy this even though I really wanted to. I’m waiting for it to go on sale.
1988 heritage cotton Rollneck™ sweater in white, J. Crew, $64.50 (sale!!) — I have this rollneck sweater from work and a thrifted black roll neck in my collection already, both not very spring, and I think I this is the perfect spring option.
Guinevere Shorts Stem, Araks, $135 — Just cute lime green lingerie.
It’s Only Spring, Not Summer, But I Can’t Help It
Maylone Denim Shorts in pear white, Balzac Paris, $130 — I have of pair of white shorts I wear all the time and last summer I accidentally sat in some very sticky pollen and they’re basically ruined. So in this instance buying these shorts would be a replacement and not necessarily something new and therefore could be excluded. Something to think about.
Ruched bandeau one-piece swimsuit in dot print, J. Crew, $89.50 (sale!!) — The targeted J. Crew ads got me by the neck for this launch! As soon as I saw this ad I immediately clicked on the link. All the marketing photos were so great but when I saw it person I thought, it’s just a polkadot one piece.

I think seeing it not styled at a beautiful beach brought me back to reality
Before we get into this months purchase(s), I want to share with you some extremely important and factual information from
:Incredible input, right? I’d like to add some of my own ideas to this list like, sweatpants, you could always use another pair because those are in a constant rotation, and the other being anything you buy on vacation. Vacation money has a girl math bubble around it, therefore, any clothing purchases on said trip are exempt. Using the Erika Rule™️ my purchases for February and January can be exempt too! So, this low buy is going great!
In March I took a trip to Ireland to see my best friend (Hi Abby!!) and bought a couple things. I purchased this Rains jacket. I was looking to buy a rain jacket (the reason I went into J. Crew that I mentioned earlier) because I do not own one and Abby said it would be a good idea to bring. I stumbled upon the brand Rains when I was doing my research, but couldn’t order anything because I waited until the last minute. I borrowed one from my sister and packed it just in case. When we were walking around Dublin we saw there was a Rains store that had just opened so it felt meant to be.

I didn’t end up wearing the jacket I borrowed from my sister or the one I bought as I opted for a cute 5 euro umbrella instead for most of the trip. Rain jackets are kinda weird — they just get super wet which keeps your clothes dry, but gets literally everything else around you wet because it’s dripping and it’s not very thick so you get cold too — which is probably why I didn’t own one.
I also bought a pair of wool socks in a speckled baby blue and a roller ring!

Since all of those are exempt from the one item a month, per the Erika Rule™️, now we can get into my March purchase. I ordered a pair of Stuart Weitzman boots off eBay. The pictures weren’t all that great, but the price was so I made an offer and it was accepted. I was a little nervous about them because the pictures cut off the top of the shoe, but the seller accepted returns so I was in the clear. And thank god they did because…

They didn’t fit. I wasn’t totally bummed out because I don’t think this style (a tight zip-up boot) suits my closet. I’m more a pull-on boot girl. I think I jumped the gun on this purchase because I was getting very frustrated with the search for second hand Frye boots (the prices are insane). However, the shape of the heel and toe are perfect and for a second I did consider keeping them and only wearing them with jeans or long dresses, but that would’ve been dumb. So, it’s back to the drawing board. I’m thinking this skirt from Aritzia which is wild because I’ve never purchased anything from there before and have no idea what it’ll be like, but wanna give it a shot.
In the beauty/skincare category I purchased this Faded serum. I’m on the road to recovery for my skin and I can finally see the light on the other side of this awful tunnel. I’m hoping to make a more exciting beauty purchase in April if my skin behaves.
Before You Go, Books!
One of my New Years Resolutions is to only buy a new book once I’ve finished one. In March I read: Kudos by Rachel Cusk, Sirens & Muses by Antonia Angress, Foster by Claire Keegan and Look at Me by Anita Brookner. I purchased: Biography of X by Catherine Lacey, Look at Me by Anita Brookner and a Woman of No Importance by Sonia Purnell. In Ireland I bought: Foster by Claire Keegan, I Am Mary Dunne by Brian Moore and Breakdown by Cathy Sweeney. But those don’t count because I used vacation money. I talk about all these books in this 8 minute TikTok if you want to hear even more of what I’ve got to say.
I talked for so long about that Rains coat and it made it seem like the most boring trip so here are some other pictures from Ireland.

Okay!!!! If you made it all the way here I actually love you so much!!!
Until next time!!
Xx,
Gabs
