In the wise words of Eli Siegman, “My Spotify wrapped just said I’m better than Apple Music people”. Spotify Wrapped came out so early this year, there are 4 more weeks of 2023, a lot of damaged can be done with that. Anyways, I always love seeing what everyones listening to. Data collected into digestible infographics really gets me excited, but I want to know more!
Did anyone get a place other than Burlington, USA? I need to know.
What’s your bottom three? What just barley snuck in to your top 100? Mine are:
What was your top Taylor Swift song? I’m assuming 75% of the people reading this have at least one Taylor Swift song in your top 100 songs of 2023, so please share with the class. Mine was Cruel Summer, which is so normie of me, but right underneath that is Paris.
What is the most consistent thing in your Spotify Wrapped? Every single year One Direction is my tope five artists and Stockholm Syndrome is always in my top 100.
If you don’t share your Spotify Wrapped or you don’t care to see everyone else’s, I’m sorry you don’t like to have fun.
alright, let’s f*cking gab
#1 Saltburn. I saw it alone in the middle of a Tuesday, talk about being fun-employed (another Eli saying). I will keep this spoiler free because you really should see it yourself. I went in completely blind except for the few TikToks I saw saying this was the craziest thing they’d ever seen, but I disagree. When I think of the craziest movies I’ve ever seen I think of Mother and I’m Thinking of Ending Things. Those kinds of movies you can’t rewatch, but Saltburn is definitely something you can rewatch, in fact, it would change entirely on a rewatch.
#2 The Guest by Emma Cline. Our protagonist’s name is Alex, and other than that there is nothing we know about her for certain. She doesn’t have any family or close friends and you never find out why. She’s a sex worker — but that’s also just an assumption because it never explains how or why she’s in this line of work — therefore making it a little hard to believe. Her story starts with her staying with a guy named Simon in The Hamptons, but a man named Dom keeps antagonizing her over text. Simon and Alex have a falling out forcing Alex to navigate on her own. My biggest qualm with this book is Alex’s motivation. It’s not fleshed out enough. You can skip this one.
#3 We cut down our Christmas tree this week! I had to take a picture with it before cutting it down to make sure we looked cute together.
#4 Alison Roman Caramelized Maple Tart — which I didn’t get any pictures of — but my aunt did take half of it home with her and sent me this text:
#5 I finished my reading goal for the year of 35 books. I’ve set a reading goal every year for the past five and it’s never something I actually care about or aim to complete, but this year I have enjoyed reading a lot in my free time. I’m going to rank them all, because I LOVE a list and share it before the end of the year, because there is nothing like quantify your consumption à la Spotify wrapped.
#6 This Illiyoon moisturizer has been amazing. As I finish up my stock pile of Glossier PMR I wanted to grab something new to replace it that was inexpensive and thick. This has exceeded my expectations and helped a lot with texture so if you’re in the market for a new moisturizer check out this one.
#7 Look at this beautiful view:
Thanks for reading and if you don’t use Spotify we can still be friends, I guess.

Hello Gabbie!
I had no Taylor Swift in my Top 100 for maybe the first time but if I did it would've been champagne problems. My bottom three songs were I Don't Wanna Be Funny Anymore by Lucy Dacus, Rumour Has it by Adele, and Shake it Out by Florence and the Machine.
Re the Guest: I loved it. I thought the lack of detail (including background and motivation) made it more interesting. Why are we doing anything that we're doing in our early 20s? I don't particularly know to be honest. Twas an entertaining if stressful romp through the Hamptons.
Can't wait for the Gabbie Reading List. Have you read Other People's Clothes by Calla Henkel? Need to know your thoughts.
Hello gabbie!
Love the newsletter this week!
I did not get Burlington but Santa Cruz California. Does this make me a straight™️? Anyway my bottom three songs were kiss me, easy skanking and zengadyw derekou. So 90s fall movie, Rasta escapism and Ethiopian jazz. I’m just not like other girls *tucks hair behind ears*
There was no Taylor swift but there was in da club by 50 cent soooo do with that what you will. I did listen to her this year on our blend and playlist of yours I listen to, enjoyed very much.
Love the Christmas tree hunting pic! I miss the northern hemisphere holiday festivities instead of hiding from the UV index here lol. Also would absolutely love the book ranking!
Love you
Xxx
