It’s been a minute!! I’m so happy to be back. I’ve been wanting to write, but I also haven’t wanted to write. More than anything I’ve missed my small little community of people on here. I started my Substack just over a year ago, when there was no “feed,” when it was just people reading newsletters. I got a little in my head about writing because of the new social media aspect of Substack, but I miss it. I love sharing what I’ve been loving with you all, so without further a do…
let’s f*cking gab
Striped Mohair Scarf in Brown/Blue, Lewis Melly, $124 — For a long time scarfs were really big, too big if you ask me. This striped mohair scarf in this color way is stunning.
Ayla Mittens, Sea NY, $95 — I saw these mittens on Instagram back in September and knew they would be on my Christmas list this year.
Sterling Silver Kimball Ring, Alas Eius, $85 — Jenna Katz makes a ring just like this in 18k gold that’s upwards of 10’s of thousand’s of dollars. That’s the one I really want, but this one is pretty too.
Fuzzy Top, Gimaguas, $152 — Gimaguas is one of those brands that I frequently visit. Their pieces are so unique and are constantly changing. I bought a bikini from them a couple years ago that I love and I want a winter staple from them too.
Bob Marley x SL72 RS, GOAT, ~$170 — Any pair of SL72s would make a fantastic gift, but this limited edition color way is extra exciting.
i love my SL72 in "preloved brown". interesting name Raffia Bag Weekender Coast, Gabriele Frantez, $345 — Big bags are in! I’m constantly schlepping around a giant tote bag or canvas bag, this Gabriele Frantez one is next level.
Ronan Scarf, Rouje, $130 — So this was on my wishlist last year, but I’m glad I didn’t go for either one of those because this navy blue color with the pearlescent buttons is the perfect combo.
Orla Donegal Wool Sweater, Toast, $280 — You cannot go wrong with a Toast sweater. It feels like the type of sweater a character in The Holiday would wear.
Parisienne Ballet flats, Rouje, $295 — These are exactly the kind of shoes I want to wear with a great pair of jeans and white t-shirt. Need.
The Pajamas in Red & Burgundy Stripes, Graviet, $72 — These are the perfect holiday Pajamas. Not obviously specific to any holiday so you can wear them all year round!
You may be wondering, Gabbie, how is that one purchase a month challenge going? It’s been put on a pause these past few months. But, the first 8 months of the year where I took it a bit more seriously definitely taught me a few things when it comes to shopping.
Here is a list of a few things I have purchased since we last spoke:
“The Killers” T-shirt I bought at their concert in DC
Customized LL Bean Boat Tote which I use every single day
This yellow Ikea coat rack
An array of Uniqlo socks
A Vintage Tag Heuer 1000 28mm Gold Submarine Dive Watch (lots of good ones on eBay right now)
The Steve Madden Frye knockoffs because I couldn’t handle the resell market and the originals are always out of stock
I would recommend all of these things as holiday gifts for yourself or a loved one. Socks are a great stocking stuffer, customized Boat Tote is, duh, customizable and band merch is also a great customizable/thoughtful gift.
Thank you so very much for being here! Please share with me what you’re eyeing to gift or hopefully receive this holiday season!
XO,
Gab
