Before we get into it, I must address my accidental two month hiatus. Main factors including: enjoying summer time, seeing my friends and family, vacations, and most of all, getting a new job! First Monday through Friday job, crazy. Weekends, nice to meet you.
All of the above combined with the Substack ~discourse~ that has been going on the past few months (read Emily’s viral Substack post here) have led to some apprehension around writing. But this is supposed to be fun, so let’s get back into the fun part.
In 2024 I’m buying one clothing/accessory a month and one beauty/skincare/hair product a month. I wouldn’t classify my shopping habits as anything crazy, but I do think ~as a society~ we have become too comfortable with buying more than we actually need (or honestly even want) which is why I’m challenging myself to shop differently for the next 7 (now 6) months.
If this shopping philosophy inspires you, or you just want more ideas of what you can spend your money on (the exact opposite of my intentions, but to each their own), consider subscribing! I’ll make it super for easy for you! Here:
Better late than never? My spending/philosophy kinda went out the window the past two months. Oh well, like I said before, vacation shopping doesn’t have the same aura around it that online/regular shopping does.
I went on a couple different weekends away in July and on vacation in August and saw many of my beautiful friends. If you’re one of them and reading this right now, I love ya!
let’s f*cking gab
Tianna Necklace, Ariel Kellogg, $130 — I’ve been following Ariel for a long time and have wanted to pull the trigger on one of her pieces, but I never know what to pick and when I finally do decide it’s gone. A never ending cycle.
Rock River Melody, Régime des Fleurs, $240 — Alexa Chung wears this perfume. That is all that needs to be said really, but if you need more information to be convinced, it’s describes as, “A muddy ride on horseback in sparkling green Fontainebleau forest.” Need. (Editors note: I have since smelled this in person, hated it lol)
Charlie - Suede Caramel, Parker Thatch, $698 — My desire for accessories is never ending. That is something I have learned at the halfway point of tracking my wants.
The Elliot Sandal, A Emery, $190 — I purchased a brown sandal In July on Poshmark for 20 bucks which was a great deal and they’re cute, but I kinda wish I got these instead.
The Perfect Weekday Tote in Military Olive, Alex Mill, $175 — See above statement about bags. I will probably end up getting a boat and tote, but this is a fun alternative option that can still be customized.
Wayfarer, RayBan, $180 — Okay, Mandela Effect, I could have sworn these were just called “Wayfare” where did the “er” come from?? Slowly but surely trying to become Blane from Pretty In Pink. (I bought these, life changing honestly.)
Vintage Coat Pendant, eBay, $24.99 — There are so many cute little charms on eBay. My sister got me a lamp charm on a trip to New Orleans and I love it! It’s cool that it commemorates me staring this job in interiors. I’m very excited to see what this little friendship bracelets turns into in the years to come.
Adult Big Jean Jacket, Rudy Jude, $380 — So much money, yet the most beautiful jacket. I really want this jacket in the color clay, which is the most perfect off white, but they don’t have a photo of it on the website. The one in the collage is the color natural.
Karité poudré, l'occitane, $N/A — This limited addition scent from l’occitane is the best smelling lotion I’ve ever used. I got it around Christmas time and just used the last of it. They must bring it back out in December.
Shirt in White Linen, CHAVA, $370 — Potentially the most beautiful white shirt I’ve ever seen. Thank god it’s sold out, that way I can’t even be tempted.
Albert Necklace, Etsy, $160 — I’ve had this double sided locket charm for almost a year and have nothing to wear it on. This necklace has a swivel clip, so you can see both sides of the locket. (I did indeed buy this this month)
Thanks for gabbing with me again. Sorry I’m a little rusty, I knew that if I pushed it off for any longer it would get even more daunting to come back to. Here are a few photos from vaca of things I bought and wanted to buy, but didn’t:

Hiii gab!
You know I’ve been waiting for this one! As always I love seeing what you like and what you’ve been up to. Honestly I wish I had enough money for anything from Rudy Jude because wow I feel like she makes such beautiful stuff that I feel would go well in my closet.
I always wanted to say, fuck discourse; have fun! Like you’re writing this for me and who cares if some people take shit too seriously. I love reading what you have to say and this is like getting a little letter in the mail.
Love you!
